TORRINGTON (USDA) - Riverton Livestock Auction sold 900 cattle Monday. No recent price comparison available. Breaker slaughter cows sold from $41-$51.50, Boning $44.75-$54, Lean $45-$49; bulls ranged from $58.50-$61.25 with some to $67.25; feeder heiferettes sold from $70-$77, young $59.50-$67, middle-aged $52.50-$59, and aged $47-$52; young/middle-aged bred cows brought $625-$850, few aged $510.

According to the National Slaughter Cattle Review for Monday, trade activity was very slow on very light demand in all the major feeding regions. Few live sales reported at $87. Last week, live sales traded at $86-$88, and dressed $138-$139.

Boxed beef cut-out values were generally steady on light to moderate demand and offerings Monday. Choice 600-900 lbs. up $.21 at $140.59 and Select 600-900 lbs. down $.50 at $134.09 based on 290 total loads including cuts, trimmings, and grinds.

Cattle slaughter under federal inspection Monday was estimated at 118,000 head, compared to 120,000 a week ago and 94,000 a year ago.

The slaughter cows at South St. Paul Monday sold steady. Premium Whites not tested, Breakers $53-$55.50, Boners $50-$53, Lean $46.50-$50.

At the Midwestern terminal markets Monday, barrow and gilt prices trended $1-$4 higher at $49-$54. Hog slaughter under federal inspection is estimated at 391,000 head, compared to 362,000 a week ago and 384,000 a year ago.

Slaughter lambs in Sioux Falls sold $3-$6 higher. Choice wooled slaughter lambs 130-160 lbs. brought $98.75-$104, shorn 140 lbs. $104; feeder lambs steady with 70-90 lbs. at $125-$131, 114 lbs. $107. Slaughter and feeder lambs in South St. Paul were steady Monday. Shorn slaughter lambs 120-140 lbs. $94-$96, wooled $92-$94. The 60-80 lbs. lambs brought $115-$130, 80-100 lbs. $95-$115. Sheep and lamb slaughter Monday was estimated at 11,000 head, compared to 10,000 a week ago, and 10,000 a year ago.
