Cooking things together is as old as time.

Remember Stone Soup, that wonderful children’s fable? Maybe it was my love of being read to, and reading, that made me love cooking so much. Then again, it may have just been Peggy Jane the Mom’s prowess in the kitchen.

At any rate, chopping and placing all of the ingredients for a meal in one vessel and then cooking them together is now a new culinary trend.

Here is a road map, without a stone but with plenty of choices, that allows tons of customization.

I showed it to the friend, and he chose pork with mustard-thyme rub, butternut squash and onion (of course). So that may or may not be our next attempt.

If you chop the night before or morning of, it’s a breeze to put together for dinner.
