'CONNECTING COMMUNITIES' MLK/WYO EQUALITY DAY CELEBRATION
This year's celebration of Martin Luther King Jr./Wyoming Equality Day on Jan. 19 focuses on connections along race, gender, geographic and generational lines. Special guests will be community members from Ethete; students from Wyoming Indian High School's Eracism Club and Community Study night class have organized buses for students and interested adults to attend the event. *Activities kick off at 9 a.m., with a march from City Park to Nicolaysen Art Museum. Entertainment will be provided by High Eagle Singers; speeches will be given by Casper Branch NAACP President Jimmy Simmons and Mayor Barb Watters. Works by Crow artist Kevin Red Star are exhibited in the Nic. Organizers include NCGP and the Youth Empowerment Council.
*A free youth basketball clinic, hosted by Casper College Thunderbirds, will be offered from 10 a.m.-noon: Junior-high and high-school students will meet in CC Thunderbird Gym and elementary students will meet in CC Administration Building gym. Participants should bring different gym shoes to wear.
*A documentary video, "In Remembrance of Martin," will be shown from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in T-Bird Gym classroom 158. Sponsor is the CC Diversity Committee.
*Lunch will be available at noon in CC Roberts Commons cafeteria. N.C.
