For years, doctors have bgeen searching for an easy way to help overweight patients drop pounds. New evidence says that the solution might be under our noses.

In a trial of overweight adults, sniffing synthetic green apple, peppermint and banana scents helped participants lose weight.

In another study, the aromas of pumpkin pie and doughnuts were found to enhance sexual arousal. Here are a few more fragrances that have passed some recent scientific tests:

Reduce anxiety with Roman chamomile, lavender or orange blossom;

Reduce agitation with lavender or lemon balm;

Brighten mood with almond extract, lavender, orange blossom or vanilla

Feel revived with rosemary.
