For the moment, it appears the monsoon season has passed and blue sky and warmer air will become more frequent.

Now that the slow cooker has been put away -- again -- you may be able to focus on crisp, cool salads and soups that are served cold.

From a layered lettuce salad with a couple of new twists and a healthier potato salad to shrimp with citrus and grilled steak on a bed of greens, perhaps one of these will nudge your taste buds toward summer.
