Central Wyoming

Nicer weather has made for some better fall fishing in the North Platte recently -- especially with the crowds nearly gone -- but it's time to start thinking ice fishing. There's still time before the reservoirs freeze over, but the forecast is good for this fall in Pathfinder, Seminoe and Glendo reservoirs. Right now, fishing has been good in Alcova Reservoir, with anglers reporting trout at Sandy, Black and Okie beaches. Kastmasters, panther martins, rooster tails and daredevils in black, gold and silver have all worked well. Worms, marshmallows and powerbait are also great producers.

Northeast

It's cold. Simply put, snows and cold weather have all but shut down fishing in the Big Horns for the year. The lower elevation streams and lakes are still fishable, but bundle up if you're going out. Don't expect any dry fly action, but streamers should still produce some fish. Wooly buggers are always a great go-to fly. Size 8 to 10 dark colored buggers are your best bet. For nymphs, small -- size 16 to 18 -- copper johns and pheasant tails trailed behind a dead-drifted bugger or leech will produce fish.

Northwest

Cody didn't get hit as hard by the recent snows as southeastern Wyoming, but it's definitely fall fishing conditions in the Northwest. Brown trout fishing is still on in the Lower Shoshone, mostly on big streamers. White wooly buggers work well in this area, but in the late fall, orange is your best bet. Olive and brown are also both good choices. Wooly buggers, double bunnies, and sculpin pattern all work well.

Southwest

You'll need to bundle up if you're going out, but you can expect to have much of the river to yourself. The upper section of the Green River is best. Stick to streamers -- size 4 to 6 wooly buggers and double bunnies are a good choice -- in brown, orange, yellow and black.
