CHEYENNE - Laramie County sheriff's officials say a dispute over an engine block was behind a fatal shooting near Burns.
Forty-six-year-old Timothy Canaday was found dead in his yard Wednesday night. He'd been shot in the head and abdomen. Within hours, police arrested 43-year-old Wayne Shook outside his home in Cheyenne.
Sheriff's Lt. Linda Gesell said Canaday had sold Shook an engine block for $4,000. Shook claimed the block was faulty. Gesell said Shook confronted Canaday at Canaday's home and asked him to "make good on the deal."
Gesell said Canaday told Shook "a deal is a deal" and Shook responded by shooting Canaday.
Shook and Canaday were co-workers at a Grease Monkey garage in Cheyenne.
Shook has been held in the Laramie County jail. He did not have a working home phone number.
