Wyo soldiers to receive honors for Afghanistan deployment

CHEYENNE - Soldiers with the Wyoming Army National Guard's Embedded Training Team who deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom will be awarded for their call to duty Saturday in Guernsey.

Maj. Gen. Ed Wright, Wyoming's adjutant general, will serve as a guest speaker at the Defenders of Freedom ceremony planned to start at 4 p.m. in the Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center chapel.

Each soldier will receive an encased American flag, a commemorative coin, a certificate of appreciation, and a lapel insignia. Soldiers also will receive a Governor's Coin from the general on behalf of Gov. Dave Freudenthal to thank them for their service to the state.

Honored soldiers are from Cheyenne, Laramie, Torrington, Guernsey, Hartville; Brush, Colo.; and Dallas, Texas.
