A judge this morning denied a request to reduce the sentence of a Colorado teenager convicted of robbing an Alcova bar in November 2006.
Natrona County District Judge Thomas Sullins wasn't comfortable suspending Steven Liljedahl's sentence because criminal charges facing the teen in Colorado make it unclear what would happen to him once he leaves Wyoming's boot camp program.
However, the judge said Liljedahl's attorney could file another request once the matter is cleared up.
Liljedahl and five other men and boys drove to Wyoming from Craig, Colo. in a stolen pickup on Nov. 29, 2006. They robbed the Sunset Grill in Alcova at gunpoint, then headed toward Casper on Highway 220. When a Natrona County sheriff's deputy tried to stop the truck, a chase began where officers were fired upon by some members of the group.
Liljedahl, now 17, was not accused of shooting at officers.
All six defendants ultimately made plea bargains with prosecutors.
