From correspondent and wire reports
Wheatland High School remained locked down as of 4:30 p.m. after authorities were alerted to a suicide note sent via text message.
Libbey Elementary School students were released earlier than usual while law enforcement in three counties searches for the young adult who allegedly sent the text message to two high school students in Wheatland, Platte County School District Superintendent Stuart Nelson said. The elementary school was previously closed off because it is located next to the high school.
Formerly from Glenrock, the suspect lives in Evansville and is not currently enrolled in school, Nelson said. He instigated lockdown procedures at both schools at about 12:40 p.m. The lockdowns will remain in effect until the suspect is located.
