GREEN RIVER - Smoking will be allowed in bars, taverns and clubs in Green River after all.
After passing a smoking ordinance Dec. 4, Green River city council members reversed course Tuesday night and voted 4-3 to reinstate an exemption for bars and clubs.
The city's controversial smoking ordinance went into effect a week ago, but liquor dealers quickly began circulating a petition aimed at overturning the smoking ban in bars and clubs.
City officials said the new, revised ordinance will go into effect Dec. 27.
