A jump in the Academic Progress Report and a spike in victories has earned Wyoming men's basketball coach Heath Schroyer a contract extension.
The university announced Wednesday that Schroyer's contract - originally through the 2012 season - has been extended through April of 2014.
"I think that we've come a long way in the program," Schroyer said. "I don't think that we could've balanced fixing the APR and winning games much better than we have. I'm excited about the extension because obviously, for me and my family and my staff and their families, it gives us a vote of confidence to stay on the path that we're on in building this program."
The Cowboys, who went just 12-18 in 2007-08 - Schroyer's first season - finished with 19 victories this past year and earned a berth into the College Basketball Invitational.
The contract extension was announced in congruence with the release of this year's APR, which measures the academic eligibility, retention and graduation rate of Schroyer's first season. The Pokes earned a mark of 935, the highest number ever for the program.
