ROCK SPRINGS - The congestion on Interstate 80 between Rock Springs and Green River will continue for the next 24 hours, according to Wyoming Department of Transportation officials

On the eastbound lane at milepost 97, there is a bridge rehabilitiation project taking place, which requires motorists to travel at slow speeds. The treatment requires a reduced speed limit of 10 m.p.h. for 24 hours while it cures, but WYDOT hopes to raise the speed limit to 35 m.p.h. this evening. They anticipate removing the barriers on Sept. 11.

The westbound bridge deck had the silica applied to the bridge deck last week and WYDOT anticipates removing the jersey barriers this evening, with traffic set at 75 m.p.h. then.

WYDOT calls the job necessary to preserve the bridges for at least another seven years before they will need to be reconstructed. Motorists are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings.
