CHEYENNE - Gov. Dave Freudenthal has appointed Mike McVay as director of the Wyoming Department of Administration and Information.
McVay will succeed Ron Ommen, who announced Wednesday that he will resign from the post at the end of January.
McVay started in the Budget Division in 1977 and has served as administrator since 2003.
McVay calls his appointment as director a great privilege. He will be paid $132,000 a year in the job.
The Department of Administration and Information is one of the largest state agencies. In addition to budget work, it oversees construction management, economic analysis, general services, human resources and several other offices.
