CHEYENNE - Secretary of State Max Maxfield says about 47 percent of Wyoming's registered voters turned out for the state's primary election.
The unofficial numbers released Wednesday morning confirm the general observation that voter traffic was light at polling places around the state. The average voter turnout for Wyoming primary elections over the past 10 years is 54 percent.
The Secretary of State's Office says 104,635 ballots were cast Tuesday out of a total of 222,600 registered voters.
Maxfield says he expects voter turnout to be higher for the Nov. 4 general election, as is normally the case.
