POWELL - Former state legislator Carroll Miller of Shell has died at the age of 82.
Miller was a retired dentist and rancher in Big Horn County.
He served 10 years in the state Senate and six years in the state House. He retired from the Legislature in 2002.
In the Senate, Miller was a strong supporter of Northwest College in Powell. In 2002, he sponsored legislation to give community colleges the opportunity to match privately-raised endowment contributions with state funds.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
