The roads of southeastern Wyoming have been hit hard by this springtime storm.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation asks travelers to be familiar with weather and road conditions before attempting travel.

All plows, loaders and motor graders are on the roads clearing the wet, heavy snow. WYDOT reports that wind has picked up in some areas, hampering the plows with snow drifts.

WYDOT warns against running through gates lowered over closed roads. Plow operators do not anticipate traffic on closed roads, and at times may be running in the opposite direction of regular travel.

Waiting at the gates may be dangerous, too. The roads could be closed for many hours.

Road information is available online at http://www.wyoroad.info, or travelers may phone 511 for updates.
