CASPER - A legislative task force is laying the groundwork for possible new laws to regulate wind energy development in Wyoming.
The Task Force on Wind Energy met Wednesday and Thursday in Casper to discuss a range of wind development issues with wind companies, landowners, local governments and others.
The group identified two specific areas for its members to draft legislation that lawmakers may choose to introduce in the next legislative session.
Members were assigned to draft a bill to establish state law mandating minimum county requirements for wind farms and a bill addressing possible changes to the state's Industrial Siting Act.
The group says it will keep discussing possible changes to the state's tax structure for wind projects.
