RAWLINS, Wyo. - The Wyoming Frontier Prison in Rawlins is hoping to get a $25,000 grant to develop a marketing plan and attract more tourists for its museum, tours and gift shop.
The Rawlins City Council voted Tuesday to endorse the prison's application for a grant through the Wyoming Business Council.
The prison now attracts 15,000 to 17,000 people a year, from overseas tourists to Old West buffs to ghost-hunting groups.
The prison was in use from 1901 to 1981, when it was replaced. It became a museum in 1988.
