SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - A Wyoming man has been charged with assaulting a Nebraska state trooper.

Court records say Michael Salazar of Torrington was one of 11 people in a van that the trooper stopped Thursday on Nebraska Highway 92 west of Scottsbluff.

The trooper says Salazar had a half bottle of beer in his hand and became unruly when the trooper began to ask questions about others drinking in the van.

The trooper says Salazar became even more combative and punched the trooper in an eye and pulled a badge off the trooper's uniform.

Another trooper arrived, and after a struggle they took Salazar into custody.

The court document also says Salazar was taken to a hospital to check for injuries. While there, he knocked over trays and threatened to kill the troopers.
