The flooding on Friday may have submerged heating and water heating equipment in some homes and businesses, according to a news release from SourceGas distributed by the city of Casper.
Residents returning home from holiday travel may find their natural gas appliances are not working because of the flooding. Residents and business owners should contact SourceGas at (800) 563-0012. SourceGas technicians can be dispatched to evaluate the situation and determine if the gas service needs to be shut off - at no charge - for safety reasons.
In most cases, if the appliances have been submerged in flood water, they will need to be replaces. While SourceGas will shut off gas service for safety reasons, the company will charge for time and materials if people want to replace or repair their appliances. SourceGas will offer estimates before any work is performed.
SourceGas customers always can contact any qualified plumbing and heating contractor to inspect, replace or repair their appliances. SourceGas also provides appliance sales, installation and repairs as an option for its customers.
If a gas leak is suspected, call 911 and the SourceGas Center at (800) 563-0012 immediately from a safe location away from the suspected leak.
