CHEYENNE - Icy roads and blowing snow have caused numerous car crashes and forced the closure of some roads in southwestern Wyoming.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation reported Tuesday afternoon that westbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed between Fort Bridger and Evanston.

Eastbound lanes of I-80 were reopened Tuesday afternoon after a temporary closure caused by a multiple vehicle crash about 22 miles west of Rock Springs. Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Steve Townsend says there were an unknown number of injuries in the crash, but no reports of fatalities.

Also Tuesday, two trucks carrying hot asphalt crashed at the intersection of I-80 and Wyoming Highway 372, about 13 miles west of Rock Springs. Townsend says about 10,000 gallons of liquid asphalt spilled on Highway 372. The highway has been closed.
