LARAMIE - Military vehicles re-enacting a 1919 convoy led by Dwight Eisenhower will cross southern Wyoming starting Saturday.
The Military Vehicle Preservation Association convoy includes jeeps, trucks and motorcycles from World War I and World War II.
The original convoy was meant to test relatively new mechanized weaponry and demonstrate the need for good roads. Eisenhower was a lieutenant colonel at the time.
The convoy is scheduled spend Saturday night in Cheyenne, Sunday and Monday nights in Rawlins and Tuesday night in Green River. Shorter lunchtime stops are planned in Rock River, Rock Springs and Evanston.
