CHEYENNE – The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department on Monday identified two people who were shot and a person of interest in an incident last week that resulted in the death of one man.
Deputies responded to a location south of Cheyenne on Friday just before 10 a.m. to a call of gunshot wounds.
They found a woman, Kristen Smith, 33, of Cheyenne, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her hip area. She was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and later released.
Deputies then responded to a location near the site of the initial gunshot call.
A local resident said he was concerned about a man who was working on his property, identified as Joseph S. Tortolito, 61.
Tortolito was found dead in a junk pile near the property, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.
The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department/Cheyenne Police Department combined SWAT team responded to protect deputies in the area.
While canvassing the area, a man ran out of a home and attempted to flee in a nearby car.
Deputies identified the man as 25-year-old Frank McHenry. He is currently being held on suspicion of two counts of aggravated burglary, felony interference with a peace officer, attempted escape and larceny.
