Some repainted the outside, others renovated the inside, another built an entirely new building.
What each of the buildings have in common are their locations in the Old Yellowstone District. Each also won awards on Monday from the city of Casper for their work making the area a more attractive place.
After the Casper City Council passed the Old Yellowstone District plan more than a year ago, the district's advisory committee decided it wanted to award people for improving their properties.
This is the first year of the awards, which Urban Renewal Coordinator Liz Becher said will be an annual celebration.
"From the very beginning with the redevelopment plans, the focus has been on core revitalization," she said. "We emphasized the private investment and reinvestment in the area is key. "
A-1 Used Tires co-owner Terry Mathes won for his facade upgrade, which helped to restore the building to what it looked like in the 1920s.
"It just needed it," he said. "It was in pretty bad shape. I've been working on it since my wife and I bought it."
The awards mirror in some ways the Downtown Development Authority's annual acknowledgements, Becher said. They not only shows appreciation for what people are doing, but highlight projects happening near downtown.
