Casper police found 25 firearms, including two AK-47 rifles, a mini-Uzi and an M-16, in a Florida man's car after arresting him on Sunday.
William G. Pryzbylowicz, 66, was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms by a felon.
Casper Federal Bureau of Investigations Agent James Patrick called the Casper Police Department after an FBI agent in Missoula told Patrick that Pryzbylowicz was in Casper, according to a written statement by Casper police Detective Randy Dolberg.
The Missoula agent, Special Agent Monte Shaide, told Patrick that Pryzbylowicz had 25 firearms in his car, Dolberg wrote, and four of them were converted to fully automatic.
Pryzbylowicz loaded the weapons in his car in Jacksonville, Fla., his daughter-in-law told agents, and was heard telling his estranged wife in Montana that if she turned him in he would kill his wife, son and himself. Pryzbylowicz was also adamant that no one would take his guns from him, Dolberg wrote.
Patrick found Pryzbylowicz's maroon Grand Marquis with Florida license plates in the Motel 6 parking lot in Casper.
He called Casper police for assistance and found Pryzbylowicz outside of his motel room. The officers arrested Pryzbylowicz and took him to the Casper Police Department.
Dolberg obtained a search warrant for Pryzbylowicz's car where officers found the 25 firearms, Dolberg wrote in the affidavit.
In Pryzbylowicz's medicine bag was a pistol with seven rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, Dolberg wrote.
Pryzbylowicz was being held in the Natrona County Detention Center on Monday.
District Attorney Michael Blonigen said state and federal authorities are discussing which court system would be appropriate for potential charges.
He hopes to have the charges resolved by this afternoon.
