Water board meets via phone
The Wyoming Water and Waste Advisory Board will meet in a statewide audio teleconference at 9 a.m. on Dec. 18, according to a release.
The meeting will include discussion on grant reimbursement applications from local governments monitoring solid waste landfill and an update on the status of proposed water quality rules and regulations.
Any person interested in participating in the meeting must contact Mike Jennings at (307) 473-3451 by 5 p.m. on Dec. 12 to obtain a phone number and pass code to access the teleconference. The number of available phone lines is limited.
Interested parties may also participate by being at the Casper office of the Department of Environmental Quality, 152 N. Durbin, Suite 100; or at the Cheyenne DEQ office at the Herschler Building in the Yellowstone Room, 122 W. 25th.

College's paralegal program turns 20
The Casper College Paralegal Program will celebrate its 20th anniversary at 6 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Paradise Valley Country Club, according to a release.
The program, which was recently re-approved by the American Bar Association, teaches students the specific skills required to perform specifically delegated substantial legal work for lawyers, according to Mary Kubichek, program director and paralegal instructor at Casper College.
The cost to attend the event is $10, which includes an appetizer bar. A cash bar will also be available.
RSVPs are required by 4 p.m. on Dec. 8.

"Playhouse Disney" plays at Events Center
Tickets are available for "Playhouse Disney Live!," scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 25 at the Casper Events Center, according to a release.
The show spotlights characters from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, Handy Manny and My Friends Tigger & Pooh.
All Seats are reserved, and tickets are $20, $27, $34, and $47 apiece. Children who have reached their first birthday must have a ticket.

Salvation Army sets out kettles
The Salvation Army has begun setting out its iconic red kettles and staffing them with bell ringers in Casper to ring in the Christmas season, according to a release. This will mark the 92nd year that The Salvation Army has served Casper locally and nearly 120 years nationally.
"We are excited to have the kettles out again this year," said Captain Dan Wilson, Salvation Army kettle coordinator. "Many people tell us that it doesn't seem like Christmas until they see the red kettles and hear those bells ringing."
Money collected locally remains in the community to help neighbors with items like food, transportation, utilities, vouchers and clothing. Last year, The Salvation Army collected approximately $85,000 in the kettles.
The kettle fundraiser began in 1891 by Cpt. Joseph McFee in San Francisco.
Library hosts greeting workshop
Natrona County adults can make their own homemade cards at the Natrona County Public Library, according to a release.
Each person will have the chance to craft two card designs during the "Make-Your-Own Christmas Card" workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Mills Branch Library.�All materials will be provided.

Cheyenne East team wins mock trial
A team from Cheyenne East High School won the Wyoming High School Mock Trial competition in Casper last weekend to qualify for the national competition, according to a release.
East had two teams in the tournament, and both advanced to the finals of the varsity division.
Torrington and Lingle also participated, and Lingle won the novice title.
East's championship team will compete at nationals in May in Atlanta.
