Man killed in tractor-trailer accident

A 27-year-old man was killed Friday evening in an accident involving a tractor-trailer.

Joseph Weese was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened about 8 p.m. at Rocky Mountain Cementers in the Midwest-Edgerton area, according to the Natrona County Sheriff's Office.

The tractor-trailer had apparently stopped in front of a locked gate at the business. The gate was opened and Weese somehow became tangled up in the tractor-trailer when it pulled into the yard.

The sheriff's office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol are investigating the incident.

"At this point, it just really looks like a tragic accident," said sheriff's Sgt. Mark Sellers.

Searchers find overdue hunters

Searchers found two overdue hunters Monday in the southwest part of Natrona County.

A 36-year-old Casper man and his 11-year-old son went elk hunting on Thursday and were due back on Sunday, said Natrona County Sheriff's Sgt. Mark Sellers. They took a camper with food and water with them.

A pilot spotted the hunters from the air about noon Monday. Six deputies were also searching by ground for the overdue pair.

"They stayed with the trailer," Sellers said. "They did the smart thing."

The man and his son were both fine.

District seeks input on school request process

The Natrona County School District is seeking public input to help improve its online school request process, according to a release from the district.

The online survey, available through Monday, asks parents/guardians about their satisfaction with the online school request process that takes place each January. The survey also asks parents to identify information they use to choose schools for their children, as well as information they would like to have more easily available. The survey is not specific to the open enrollment/neighborhood schools issue.

Families who completed the online school request process in January 2008 will be e-mailed a direct link to complete the survey. All district families are invited to complete the survey, however, by visiting www.natronaschools.org and following the link in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
