Man faces larceny, drug counts
Prosecutors on Monday charged a 21-year-old Casper man with stealing more than $3,000 in cash from a local sandwich shop and with possessing marijuana.
Matthew David Jensen worked at Quiznos on CY Avenue from late 2007 until he was arrested at the store on Halloween.
Police conducted a three-day investigation after the store's owner reported the theft last week. While arresting Jensen on Saturday, officers found marijuana in a cigarette pack Jensen had in his pocket.
Jensen told officers he took the money to fuel his drug habit, according to a police affidavit.
If convicted on both counts, Jensen could face up to 15 years in prison.
Natrona County Circuit Judge Steven Brown set his bond at $7,500. He remained in jail Monday afternoon.
Hearing targets legal aid system
In partnership with the Wyoming State Bar and the Wyoming Supreme Court, the Access to Justice Commission has scheduled a series of public hearings to evaluate the specific legal needs of low- and moderate-income people in Wyoming, according to a media release.
The next public hearing will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Natrona County Courthouse in Casper (not the new Townsend Justice Center). The courthouse is located at 200 N. Center St.
The public is encouraged to attend and should be prepared to discuss legal services and the justice system in Wyoming. The Access to Justice Commission says it hopes to use this information to craft a high-quality, statewide legal aid system that could be of great benefit to the citizens of Wyoming.
