Museum receives grant

The Fort Caspar Museum Association has received a grant from the Colorado-Wyoming Association of Museums to help produce a Junior Army Scout Program.

The new program, set to begin in summer 2009, will include creating an activity book for kids as well as developing a mascot for youth programs at Fort Caspar Museum. The Junior Army Scout Program will include a booklet with site-specific activities for kids ages 5-11.

Colorado-Wyoming Association of Museums unites and serves museums in the two states. Member institutions include art museums, history museums, natural history museums and historical sites.

NCSD plans for last day of school

All Natrona County schools will operate on a half-day schedule on May 29, the last school day for students, according to a district news release.

Buses will arrive at secondary schools by 11 a.m. and will be available to board students until 11:30 a.m. Buses then will return to elementary schools by 12:30 p.m. to begin transporting younger students home.

Families whose children do not ride buses are encouraged to check for their school's individual release time to pick up children.

Community members also are advised to be aware of the alternative dismissal times. Slow down for school zones, watch for children in crosswalks and obey all traffic laws around school buses.

Eateries benefit food bank

Select restaurants across Wyoming will present Eat Out to End Hunger - a fundraising event on June 3 for Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies.

Restaurants will donate a percentage of their sales to the food bank's Fighting Hunger Feeding Hope Program. For each dollar donated, WFBR can provide enough food for four meals for hungry children, seniors, and families through its member agencies, according to a release from the WFBR.

In Wyoming, 53,000 people live in poverty and struggle to meet their basic food needs, and 17,000 of them are children, according to the release.

Participating restaurants in Casper include: all three Burger Kings, Ghost Town, The Market and More, Papa John's Pizza, Parkway Cafe, Sandwich Bar, Sherrie's Place and The Wonder Bar.
