Joint Powers Board meets today

The Amoco Reuse Agreement Joint Powers Board, which oversees the development of the former refinery site, will review several projects at its monthly meeting at Casper City Hall at 6 p.m. today.

The board will review an earthmoving and excavating contract, review a project development and administrative agreement with the Casper Area Economic Development Alliance, discuss a construction contract for earthwork on the Salt Creek Heights business center, and review aspects of the business incubation center, according to an agenda.

Members of the public are invited to comment at the end of the meeting.

Combat challenge team advances

The Casper Fire Department Combat Challenge Team placed second overall at a regional qualifying event recently in Akron, Ohio, and qualified for the World Challenge, according to a release.

The Casper squad posted a time of 5 minutes, 24 seconds. The World Challenge is scheduled for Nov. 11-15 in Las Vegas.

Jennifer Holt and Chad Denton finished first in the co-ed tandem relays, and Tye Herron and Micah Rush finished among the top 10.

The team is holding a raffle to raise additional funds to travel to Las Vegas, and the drawing will take place on Nov. 1. To purchase a ticket, contact any Casper Fire Station.

WBI, college offer free screenings

Wyoming Behavioral Institute will offer free depression screening from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Casper College and at WBI, 2521 E. 15th St., for children, adolescents and adults with signs and symptoms of depression, according to a release.

The event is part of National Depression Screening Day. Screenings take a few minutes and can be done by appointment or on a walk-in basis.

Monster trucks visit Events Center

The Casper Events Center will host the Monster Truck Winter Nationals and BBR ArenaCross at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 15, according to a release from the Events Center. Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. today.

The event is scheduled to feature Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, Martial Law, Public Disturbance, Miss Monster Moose, and High Anxiety.

Seats are general admission and reserved. Tickets are prices at $27 and $16.50 for adults and $17 and $10 for children, plus fees; there are also group rates and discount coupons available. Ticket prices may increase on Nov. 15.
