An early morning fire caused more than $100,000 in damage to a home on the 300 block of Missouri Street in Mills on Friday, according to the Natrona County Fire District and Casper Fire-EMS.

Three residents and six guests evacuated before officials arrived on the scene and were not injured.

Crews from Casper, Natrona County and Evansville extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes. Officials from Wyoming Medical Center were also at the site.

Casper Fire-EMS said the fire was accidental and started on the home's deck.

A man at the home reported the fire at 2:08 a.m. after waking to a flickering light out on his deck. The people inside the home escaped as the fire broke through the patio door.

Firefighters arrived to find "a significant amount of fire" on the outside deck and moving into the home. The fire extended into the kitchen, dining area and attic of the home, and smoke badly damaged the remainder of the house.

Officials remained at the scene until about 5:30 a.m.

The family, which has been in touch with Red Cross, received a check from the Casper-Natrona County Burn Fund.
