TV channels may change
Channels where local viewers can find their favorite TV programs could change on Tuesday as part of a change-over from analog to digital broadcasting.
Casper stations KFNB-Fox will switch from channel 18 to channel 20 digital, while KGWC-CBS will change from channel 15 to channel 14.
Two other full power stations will not change channels. KTWO-ABC will continue on channel 17, while KCWY-NBC will stay on channel 13.
Digital implementation on KCWY will extend past Feb. 17. June 12 is the drop-dead date for all broadcasters to make the switch to all-digital and turn off their analog signals, according to the Federal Communications Commission.
Digital television provides improved picture and sound quality, and more programming choices.
The move to digital also frees up portions of the broadcast spectrum for advanced public communications used by police, fire departments and rescue squads, among others.
People with rooftop antennas or rabbit ears who own older analog TV sets will need a digital-to-analog converter box to receive a digital signal.
Ceremony honors lost loved ones
Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, along with Wyoming Medical Center, will host a candlelight memorial ceremony Thursday to remember those who have died in the community in the past six months.
"Remembering, A Candlelight Celebration" will take place at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church at 4600 S. Poplar St starting at 7 p.m.
Names are read and candles lit in memory of loved ones lost from Sept. 15, 2008 to Feb. 2, 2009. This event is open to anyone in the community who would like to celebrate the life of a loved one who died during this time.
A reception will follow the program.

WMC Foundation donates money
The Wyoming Medical Center Foundation will present a check Friday morning to the Wyoming Medical Center's Employee Benevolence Fund.
The foundation gives money back to the hospital because of its continued participation in the annual employee campaign. It will give 10 percent of the funds raised during the campaign to the hospital in a ceremony in the hospital's lobby Friday at 10 a.m.
The employee benevolence fund helps WMC employees in times of hardship, such as a plane ticket for an out-of-state funeral or financial assistance.
Hospice unveils part of expansion
As the expansion of Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions nears, the facility will host a party for donors to their "Fund a Foot" project, and for the public.
Hospice began the $8 million expansion in April and invited people to fund a square foot of the new expansion for $185.
Everyone who has funded a foot is invited Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to write a lasting message on a square foot of the new building floor before carpet is laid over top of it. People can still donate money to the expansion.
For more information, call (307) 577-4832.
