The Natrona County School District's budget committee met Friday and Saturday and heard 13 proposals totaling about $13 million in requests, according to a press release the district issued Saturday.
The proposals included programs for at-risk students, technological upgrades throughout the district, extended hours for school librarians, ongoing professional development for district staff and enhanced services for Spanish-speaking students and families, according to the press release.
These proposals will compete for about $4.9 million available to the budget committee for programs and staffing throughout the district. A budget for the 2007-2008 school year will go before the board of trustees in July.
The committee is expecting about $9.8 million in new funding for the coming school year. Of that, $369,000 has been set for utility and insurance cost increases and $4.5 million was set for salary and benefits increases.
The budget committee will continue its work at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the district central office at 970 N. Glenn Rd.
