The north and south lanes of North Poplar Street from Mike Lansing Field to Events Center Driver were still closed Saturday afternoon following a fatal truck accident Friday night.

One male, whose name was not released, died when he was ejected from a pickup truck traveling northbound on Poplar at about 7:30 p.m, according to Casper Police Sgt. Steve Freel. The truck left the roadway on a curve and rolled into a nearby field.

A second person in the vehicle was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol and speed played a factor in the accident, Freel said.

It is unclear whether the deceased was the driver or the passenger of the vehicle.
