Hey, Answer Girl -

Why are the street signs in Casper so hard to find?

- Mr. Garrison in Casper

At least one pair of green street name signs can be found at every intersection, said Peter Meyers, administrative analyst with the city of Casper. The pair is comprised of one sign for each street that crosses at the intersection. Smaller, more residential streets usually have only one pair, on a pole where street names are traditionally found. Larger, more public arterial streets usually have two sets of signs - at least one on a pole, and sometimes one above a stop sign. For intersections with traffic lights, signs sometimes hang from the horizontal poles holding the lights. I tell you all this because I'm hopeful that knowing the likely location of the signs will help you locate them.

The city is also currently enlarging the signs, Meyers said, which should make them easier to see. Although signs have 4-inch lettering, they're being replaced with signs that have 6-inch lettering.

If you see an intersection without a street name sign, call the city's Streets Division at 235-8283 and they'll make sure a name sign is posted.

Hey, Answer Girl -

Where do we recycle brown grocery bags in Casper?

- Marilyn in Casper

Brown paper grocery bags can be recycled in the cardboard bins at the recycling centers, according to Meyers.

Meyers also wanted me to mention that cereal boxes do not count as cardboard, and shouldn't be placed in cardboard bins. They're actually made from paperboard, not cardboard, and thus can't be recycled the same way.
