City officials are inviting people to give their thoughts tonight on whether Casper is "walkable" enough.

In March the city approved spending nearly $50,000, most of which was from the federal government, on a walkability study. Now, consultants have completed the study, and the city wants to share the results and hear from more residents.

The meeting is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight at City Hall, 200 N. David St. The presentation of the study will be at 6 p.m.

"We're hoping to gather questions, comments, concerns, if people see something that we've missed in the Casper area," said Leah Reeb, planner for the Metropolitan Planning Organization, which includes Casper and neighboring communities.

"It's kind of a brainstorming session," she said.

She said one goal is to be sure the city is accessible to people who don't, can't or prefer not to drive, including walkers, cyclists and people who use wheelchairs.

Experts will talk about "best practices" of accessibility that have been put in place in other cities. People who attend will be invited to fill out a survey about how they get around town and improvements they'd like to see.

The workshop gives the public an opportunity to share ideas, provide feedback, and ask questions, Reeb said.
