WMC bans tobacco from campus
Wyoming Medical Center's new tobacco-free policy goes into effect today, according to a media release.
Use of tobacco products will not be permitted on the grounds of the hospital, including personal vehicles parked on hospital property, and designated outdoor smoking areas will be eliminated.
Hospital officials said they are not asking people to quit smoking or chewing but to help provide a healthy environment. Tobacco cessation products will be available to patients and visitors while they are in the building.
WMC joins a trend of hospitals across the country by banning tobacco products from its campus. It is one of at least 16 Wyoming hospitals with a tobacco-free policy.
Casper Fire holds pancake breakfast
The Casper Fire Fighters Local 904, in cooperation with Casper Fire-EMS, will hold its annual free pancake breakfast on Tuesday, according to a media release.
The breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. and go until the start of the parade or until all the food is gone, and will be held at Fire Station No. 1, 200 W. First St.
The breakfast is free, but donations to support the Firefighters' Combat Challenge Team will be accepted.
Library holds 'Poetry in Motion'
The Natrona County Public Library will hold a show consisting of dance, juggling, physical theatre, percussion and poetry, according to a media release.
The event will be held on July 8 at 2 p.m. and July 9 at 10:30 a.m. The shows are free and open to the public.

NCSD recommends assistant principals
Natrona County High School announced that Ron Estes and Scott Schutte have been recommended to serve on the school's administrative team as assistant principals, according to a media release.
Estes served as a physical education and resource teacher at the former East Junior High, and most recently has been an assistant principal at Dean Morgan Junior High.
Schutte has been a career & technical education teacher at Midwest and Natrona County high schools, and currently is serving as summer school principal.
The recommendation will be brought to the board of trustees for approval at a future board meeting.
NCSD trustees schedule retreat
The Natrona County School District Board of Trustees will meet for a board retreat at noon on July 9 in the North Ballroom at the Best Western Ramkota, 800 N. Poplar in Casper, according to a media release..
The topic of discussion will be the district space-grade configuration and capacity.
The public is welcome to attend.
