Roughly 500 properties in Natrona County are near the city of Casper and use city water and sewer services.

Those properties, if the Casper City Council chooses, may be annexed into the city.

The council will discuss in today's work session if it wants to begin the long process of annexing the properties and what those implications could be.

When the city agreed to give the properties access to city services, the owners agreed to become part of the city when the council chose. It was an older system, said Casper City Manager Tom Forslund in an earlier council meeting.

The new system would require property owners who want to use city water or sewer services to begin the annexation process.

The council will also talk about reducing the speed on Wyoming Boulevard between Poplar Street and CY Avenue to 40 mph from the current 50 mph.

Some parents from Fort Caspar Academy were concerned about safety on the road as development continues on the east and west sides.

The Old Yellowstone District, an area recently slated by the council for redevelopment, will also be discussed in the council meeting today.

April Getchius wrote in a memo to the city manager that the new form-based code for the area needs some "clarification or fine tuning."
