Group warns of holiday drinking, driving
Safe Kids of Central Wyoming reminds people this holiday weekend that in 2007, 149 people in Wyoming died in car accidents involving alcohol.
People can take steps to prevent drunken-driving accidents from happening.
- Whenever you plan to drink alcohol, designate a driver before going out and give him or her your keys.
- If you're drunk, call a taxi, take a bus or call a sober friend or family member to come pick you up.
- Promptly report drunken drivers if you see them on the roadways by calling 1-800-442-9090 or 911
- Wearing your seat belt while in a car or a helmet while on a motorcycle is the best defense against a drunken driver.
- If you know someone who is about to drive while impaired, take their keys and help them make arrangements to get somewhere safely.
