NCSD trustees host special meeting
The Natrona County School District Board of Trustees has scheduled a special meeting with legislative representatives from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at 970 N. Glenn Road in Casper, according to a media release.
Topics of discussion may include results from three years of the 17-to-1 student-teacher ratio, technology and high access implementation, tutors and instructional facilitators, 2010 legislative outlook, and the needs of the Natrona County School District in the upcoming legislative session.
Though this is an informal meeting, a quorum of board members is expected and the public is welcome to attend.
Councils hold meeting in Casper
The State Rehabilitation Council and the State Independent Living Council for the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services' Division of Vocational Rehabilitation will host a joint meeting today and Thursday at the Courtyard by Marriot, 4260 Hospitality Lane in Casper, according to a media release.
An information session will also be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at that location.
The meeting is open to the public, and will focus on how the councils' efforts can improve services for Wyoming citizens with disabilities.
NIC welcomes Kirlin for performance
Kathy Kirlin will present "Stabbin', Killin', Dyin' Songs and other Sing-a-Long Favorites" for Nic at Noon on Friday at the Nicolaysen Art Museum & Discovery Center, according to a media release.
Kirlin has played classical violin for many years and also played in symphonies in the region. She "crossed over" to folk music as part of her master's degree work in music. She has won several awards for fiddling, and has recently begun to play the guitar. She has also put together a children's music program, Katy K's Musical Play for Wee Folk, incorporating many children's folk songs as well as original material. She and her husband, Stan, perform together as a duo, playing a wide variety of music.

Natrona County Sheriff's Office investigates copper theft
Natrona County's third copper theft in the last three weeks occurred this past weekend at Anadarko Petroleum in Midwest.
Sgt. Mark Sellers of the Natrona County sheriff's office said his office continues to investigate this latest theft.
On Friday, someone from Anadarko Petroleum reported the theft of two copper rolls, both of which were more than 1,000 feet long. Investigators recovered one of the rolls.
The combined value of the rolls is $2,440.
The other two thefts happened inside Casper's city limits.
