Authorities will begin installing an all-hazards outdoor warning system throughout Natrona County within the next week.
The system will allow officials to warn the public of dangerous weather, hazardous material releases and other life-threatening events, according to the Natrona County Emergency Management office. The system is made up of 36 devices mounted on utility poles around the county.
During the next phase of installation, the devices will be set up in several areas in unincorporated Natrona County including:
* Near the intersection of Poison Spider and Zero roads;
* 10 Mile Road;
* Vista West Park;
* Wolf Creek Road;
* Coal Creek Road;
* Geary Dome Road;
* Homa Hills Road.
The system will be tested during the installation, and residents in the area may hear sirens or a voice announcement. Weekly silent tests are scheduled, and live tests will take place once a month.
Natrona County Emergency Management Coordinator Stewart Anderson said he's not sure how long it will take to complete the entire system.
