For the second consecutive year, the Wal-Mart West float won grand prize at the Casper Christmas Parade.

The float, which earned $500 in prize money, was one of 55 entries in Saturday's parade through downtown Casper. Event organizers credit relatively mild weather for helping draw record attendance at the 18th annual parade.

The Wal-Mart float's theme was "Santa's Christmas Train," based on a children's book by Joseph Caro. The prize money it earned will be donated to Wal-Mart's Association Relations Fund and Joshua's Storehouse.

Here are the other winning floats, which all earned $100 prizes:

* Oil Capital Auto Club was the automobile category winner. The club will ultimately use the prize money for community donations.

* Central Wyoming Antique Power won the decorated vehicle category. The club plans to put its prize money toward the building of a museum and training center.

* Central Wyoming Pony Express won the equestrian category. The organization plans to use its winnings for the National Pony Express' 150th anniversary event in 2010.

The night-time parade is organized by the Downtown Merchants and Professionals Association.
