Casper police arrested a woman Saturday after finding a missing barrel of cinnamon bear candies inside a hotel room where she was staying.
Nickolette Beth Stewart, 28, told officers a friend had given her the large barrel outside of Poor Boys Steak House a day earlier, according to police.
The Casper restaurant keeps several barrels of candy for its customers.
The incident began at about 8:20 p.m. when police responded to a Days Inn hotel room on the 300 block of East E Street to check a 911 call. Officers determined the call was an accident, but noticed a large barrel of the cinnamon candies sitting on one of the beds, according to a police affidavit.
The officers recognized the barrel from Poor Boys and called the manager, who confirmed the restaurant was missing one barrel.
Police said they returned to the hotel, where Stewart told them she had gone to Poor Boys on her birthday the day before. After she walked outside, one of her friends grabbed the barrel of candy and handed it to her, according to the affidavit.
Officers arrested Stewart and booked her on suspicion of possession of stolen property. The barrel, which was valued at $200, was returned to the restaurant.
