Storm soaks Bar Nunn

Media reports of Wednesday's storm didn't fully reflect the extent of damage in Bar Nunn, town councilman Ken Butler said Thursday.

"What came through Bar Nunn was not just wind," said Butler, who's lived there since 1974. "You couldn't see five feet in front of you at the height of the storm. It was just a wall of water coming down."

The volunteer fire department captain said he helped at one home where a young woman's wrist was cut on a window the storm broke, and where water rose four feet in the basement. Trees were uprooted, and one family's pop-up camper was tossed around, along with a fabricated building at J.W. Williams, where Butler works.

Flash flooding warnings were still in effect Thursday in Bar Nunn.

Power transmission stations along Salt Creek Highway were affected and power was restored to Bar Nunn about 6:20 a.m. Thursday, according to Rocky Mountain Power.
