GALS gather Tuesday

Females 40 and older - particularly those who are new to town, have forgotten how to play or maybe have the empty nest syndrome - are invited to a social with snacks and drinks from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Casper Recreation Center.

The GALS - Get A Life Society - will organize crafts, recreational and sports activities and travel opportunities. The group's first outing will involve cross-country skiing on March 2.

Instructor hosts fiddle contest

Casper Classical Academy orchestra teacher Patrick Kukes will host a fiddle contest, entitled "Cabin Fever," from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the school's multipurpose unit.

Twelve students will perform in the contest, and awards will be given to the first three finishers. The event is part of the students' curriculum, and they will also be playing for a grade. The event will be judged by a professional fiddle player.

Exhibit at college closes

The photographic works of Casper photographer Ken H. Wright will be on display through Thursday at Casper College's Goodstein Art Gallery.

The public can view the exhibit, entitled "The End of Summer," from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday.

Wright has been an advanced amateur photographer for more than 40 years, and his photographs have been selected for the International Library of Photography.

Lectures coincide with exhibits

The Nicolaysen Art Museum will host lectures in conjunction with its current exhibit, "This Is My Nature."

Bruce Richardson will discuss "Landscape and Nature in the Visual Arts" at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the first lecture of the series.

Other events are scheduled for March 6, March 13 and April 3. The programs are free to NIC members or $3 for nonmembers.

All-City ORFF concert is March 1

The 18th annual All-City ORFF Concert is scheduled for 3 p.m. on March 1 at the Natrona County High School gymnasium.

This year's theme is "Music: The Universal Language," and focuses on a multicultural perspective of world music. Every elementary school in Casper is represented and officials expect between 200 and 300 participants. Students will also sing, dance and speak during the concert.

Attendance is $1 for nonparticipants.

Ethnic dinner series closes

The last meal of Casper College's ethnic dinner series, sponsored by the school's diversity committee, is scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 6 and will feature food from the British Isles.

Tickets for the dinner are $8.25 in advance and are only available through Friday. They can be purchased: at the Roberts Commons Cafeteria from 7 to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:45 to 6:45 p.m., through Thursday; at coffee bars in the Administration Building and the Wold Physical Science Center between 8 a.m. and noon, through Friday; and in the Office of Accounting and Financial Management from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., through Friday.

Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the dinner for $9.

The series will resume in the fall.
