Wednesday is a day for all veterans.

It is the day we say thank you to all who wore uniforms, whether in the Army, Navy, Marines and everything in between.

Casper offers many chances on Wednesday to honor those who put their lives on hold in service of their country.

Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery ceremony

* When: 11 a.m.

* Where: 89 Cemetery Road in Evansville

* Keynote speaker: Travis Vendela, a disabled Iraq War veteran. In 2007, an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle during his third tour. He underwent more than 32 surgeries and months of rehabilitation. He medically retired from the U.S. Army and settled in Cheyenne with his wife.

He now shares his experiences through his firm, Victory Counseling.

* Also appearing: Several people will play important roles in the ceremony.

-- The Rev. Leonard L. Robinson will give the invocation and closing prayer. He is a survivor of the World War II Bataan Death March and a Japanese prisoner of war for several years.

-- The Natrona County High School Junior ROTC Unit will serve as honor guard and execute the rifle salute.

-- Chris Walsh, captain of the Casper Police Department and an Iraq war veteran, will present a tribute to departed comrades.

-- Cecil Barnes of United Veterans Council will be honored for his participation in more than 2,000 veterans' funerals.

-- Robert Meloy will play taps.

-- Other veterans participating in the service include Kenn Gilchrist, a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran; Jay Norby of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10; and Stan Lowe, master of ceremonies.

Centennial Junior High Veterans' Day assembly

* When: 8:30 a.m.

* Where: 1421 Waterford, in the school gymnasium.

* Guest speaker: Dan Lenihan, who served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.

National Historic Trails Interpretive Center

* When: Presentations at 10 a.m. 1 p.m.

* Where: 1501 N. Poplar St., in the theater

* Guest speaker: Eastern Shoshone cultural interpreter Willie LeClair will speak about the traditions of his people and the importance of the warrior in Shoshone culture.

* Free admission: The center will waive entrance fees on Wednesday in honor Veterans' Day.
