Health department offers free childhood vaccines

The Casper-Natrona County Health Department will hold free clinics for routine childhood immunizations today and Thursday, and again on Sept. 10 and Sept.11.

The clinics will run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the health department at 475 S. Spruce St.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and bring a current shot record. Walk-ins are welcome.

Children of certain ages are required by state law to be immunized against certain diseases.

Hospice holds Fun Fest for families

Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions invites families to its fourth annual Family Fun Fest to celebrate family togetherness and fun.

The gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Fairgrounds Industrial Building.

Carnival games will keep children busy while all ages can enjoy food, live music and prizes.

Admission is $2 per person with children 2 and under free. Game tickets are 25 cents each or five for $1. There will also be a variety of foods available at an affordable price.

All proceeds benefit Casper's hospice.

Wyoming celebrates Recovery Month

September is Wyoming Recovery Month, and the theme of this year's celebration is "Real people. Real recovery."

The Wyoming Department of Health reminds people there are a number of events planned to celebrate people's recovery from addiction and mental illness.

These events include:

- Recovery Month Sobriety Event, from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Riverton City Park. For more information, contact Ron Groathouse at (307) 856-9006.

- 10th Annual Wyoming Self Advocates Advisory Group Conference, Sunday to Tuesday at Cheyenne's Hitching Post Inn. The group is made up of people with mental health and substance abuse diagnoses.

- Recovery Celebration and BBQ, Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at Sheridan City Park. For more information contact, Volunteers of America at (307) 672-2044.

- Recovery Rocks, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 20 at Casper's Washington Park. For more information, contact Charlie Powell at (307) 237-9583.
