City offers curbside leaf collection

In conjunction with the first extra trash pickup during November, city garbage crews will collect bagged leaves and take them to the compost facility, according to a release. Leaves will be picked up on the first extra trash collection day of the month for each household.

Leaves must be placed in garbage bags, tied, and placed at least three feet away from the garbage can, according to Cynthia Langston, solid waste manager.

The city's compost facility is located at the Casper Regional Solid Waste Facility and accepts leaves, tree branches, grass clippings and other similar yard waste free of charge.

Langston estimates that 12 percent of the waste baled at the Solid Waste Facility is yard waste.

Garbage collection crews will also collect pumpkins during the special leaf collection. They must be bagged separately and will also be taken to the compost facility.
