The three-day Labor Day weekend has few local events scheduled, allowing for family activities to take priority.
However, if you own or wish you owned a Corvette, want to learn about the stars or hear great live music while helping a great cause, there's something for you.
The fifth annual Corvette Roundup Show and Shine car show will be held today from 9 a.m. to noon today on the green at Fort Caspar. Registration for the car show is $20. Proceeds from the car show and its raffles will be donated to the "Shriner's Casper patient travel fund."
The public is invited to attend and vote for their favorite Corvettes in different classes along with their overall favorite. There will be several different raffles and the public is invited to participate. You must be present to win.
All Corvettes are welcome for the entire event including a rally this afternoon and the autocross on Sunday.
Registration for the car show is at Fort Caspar from 8 to 8:45 a.m.
Owners who would like to show their cars and participate in the event are asked to contact Bill Rader at 265-6014 or Gary Boldt at 436-9833.
The 12-24 Club's annual Recovery Rally is a night of rock music and inspiration that has become essential to keeping the Club's doors open.
Doors at the Casper Events Center open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30. The music lineup includes the Jeff Finlin Band, with local musician Amy Gieske, blues duo Smokin' Joe Kubek and Bnois King and one of Casper's favorites, Inda Eaton. All money raised from ticket sales will benefit the 12-24 Club.
The 12-24 Club is Casper's community center for a variety of 12-step groups and the addicts seeking recovery in them. It offers a neutral meeting place, as well as an affordable restaurant and an always open door for anyone seeking help or friendship.

Poplar St. The program will immerse you in an astronaut's body for the launch and flight into space, and you'll learn about the perils of living and working in space. You will also take a star walk of the fall sky constellations.
Dawn of the Space Age will be shown at 8 p.m., and will take you from the launch of Sputnik to today's International Space Station.
